About Qype

Qype is Europe’s largest local review site, and is available in 7 languages and 10 markets. Originally started in Hamburg, Germany, we now have offices in Hamburg, London and Paris. Our website is visited by over 18 million people every month, and is growing rapidly! We also support mobile applications on multiple devices, mobile web, online sales in multiple countries and a developer community via our API.

The role

The vacancy is within our core team as a full time Android software engineer in Hamburg. We have one great existing Android developer (who is writing a book on it), and are looking to expand the team in 2010 to accelerate the development of our Android app, and to contribute further to our open-sourced Android libraries. We’re looking for intelligent, fun and friendly people to join our gang of, we like to think, quite capable engineers! If you like working in a small team, delivering many exciting products across web and mobile, then Qype might be the right place for you.

Requirements

• At least 2 years experience software development, with some demonstrable Android experience.
• Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently and as part of team, self-motivated to solve difficult problems.
• iPhone or other mobile platforms a major plus.
• Experience of working with agile methodologies a plus.
• BSc in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience, MS or PhD preferred.
